Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY in Northern Virginia is extremely effective treatment that helps recovery from Brain Injury, Lyme Disease, Autism, Inflammation, Cancer, Infections and more.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

This extremely effective treatment dramatically improves oxygen delivery to tissues throughout the body, increases levels of rejuvenating stem cells, wakes up damaged brain cells and stimulates production of new blood vessels.

“Just had hyperbaric oxygen therapy and feel very relaxed. Very nice and knowledgeable place.” - Kris W.

WHAT IS HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is medicine’s most efficient method of transporting oxygen to cells throughout the body.  When you breathe oxygen at normal atmospheric pressure, it is transported on the hemoglobin in your red blood cells.  Under “pressure”, however oxygen dissolves in the plasma, cerebrospinal fluid in the brain and spinal cord, lymph and other body fluids.  It is therefore easily delivered to all tissues and even areas with limited blood flow which affords the tremendous healing benefits of oxygen.
HBOT also curbs infections by providing a hostile environment to anaerobic bacteria which thrive in the absence of oxygen.  It promotes the growth of new capillaries and blood vessels to areas with poor circulation for cardiovascular support and boosts collagen formation for faster wound healing.  It also mobilizes rejuvenating stem cells.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MILD HBOT AND THE UNITS FOUND IN HOSPITALS?

While hard HBOT with 100% oxygen, results in greater oxygen saturation in the tissues, many conditions respond better to mild HBOT.  In clinical trials to date, there had been virtually no difference in clinical outcome between mild HBOT and hard HBOT.  In addition, mild HBOT has no known safety risks with fire or oxygen toxicity, and it is substantially less expensive.  For the success of most protocols it’s about session frequency, correct pressure, and correct oxygen concentration found with mild HOBT.

RESOURCES

This article is from a research archive and talks about high vs. low pressure for lyme:

The New Epidemic
Lyme disease is epidemic: it is the fastest growing vector-borne disease in the world. More and more patients are showing up with chronic forms of the infection, leading to multisystemic illness and disability that is devastating to the individuals and families suffering from it. It is increasingly difficult to cure, even with intense regimens of antibiotics. Recent major articles in People Magazine, The Washington Post, and Good Housekeeping describe the debilitating effects of this tricky infection.
Many late-stage Lyme patients improve on antibiotics, but aren’t cured. Many times they don’t get better at all or they relapse every time they stop the antibiotics. Long-term antibiotics can lead to serious side effects, such as fungal infections and immune suppression.

Oxygen to the Rescue?
Hyperbaric oxygen treatment, either alone or in conjunction with antibiotics, has been a mainstay of alternative treatments for lyme for over a decade now. Hyperbaric oxygen forces oxygen into the tissues under pressure, flooding cells and helping to kill organisms and assist the immune system... Read entire article here
